Bill and Jane were coasting on a hill. 比尔和简正在山上滑行。

Down the hill went the sled. 他们的雪橇从山上滑下来。

Bill steered. Jane held on tightly. 比尔驾驶着雪橇。简紧紧地抓着雪橇。

The coasters on the hill watched them. 山上滑雪橇的人们看着他们。

Past trees they whizzed. 两旁经过的树发出飕飕的声音。

Jane yelled, "Stop the sled! Stop the sled!?but Bill could not stop it. 简大声地叫起来：“停下来！快停下来！”但是比尔停不下来。

Suddenly Jane had a feeling that she was a bird in flight. 突然，简感觉自己就像一只小鸟在空中飞翔。

Was she dreaming? 她是在做梦吗？

She landed in a big pile of snow. 她撞在一个大雪堆上停了下来。

Where was Bill? He must have gone all the way down the long slide to the end of the hill. 比尔在哪儿？他肯定是沿着长长的滑道一直滑到山下了。

Now, Bill came in sight plodding up the hill. 就在这时，比尔出现了，他正吃力地从山下爬上来。

Jane laughed as she called to him. They were so glad to be together. 简笑着叫他。又能在一起，他们真是太高兴了。

The coasters cheered to see them safe. 看到他们都很安全，其他滑雪橇的人们欢呼起来。

They went home to tell Mother what a thrilling ride they had had. 他们回家告诉了妈妈他们的经历是多么惊心动魄啊。
