It is paradoxical that we should know comparatively little about the life of the greatest English author. 如 果 说 我 们 对 这 位 伟 大 的 英 国 作 家 一 点 都 不 了 解， 那 是 谬 论。

We know that Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford on Avon, and that he died there in 1616. 但 我 们 所 了 解 的 也 不 过 是： 他 于 1564 年 出 生 在 艾 冯 河 畔 的 斯 特 拉 特 福 镇 并 于 1616 年 死 于 该 地；

Fortunately this is not likely to happen.
