童话故事第 15 课: Frog Prince 青蛙王子-3

She ran to the door to see who was outside, and as she opened it saw the frog seated there. 公主向门外跑去，看外面是谁。她开门一看，只见那只青蛙蹲在那儿。

She slammed the door violently, and hurried back to her place in a great fright. 公主砰地一声猛然把门关上，急忙回到座位上，心里很害怕。

The King observed that her heart was beating quickly, and said: "Child, why are you frightened? Is there a giant at the door come to carry you off?" 国王看到她心跳得很快的样子，便说：“孩子，你怕什么呀？难道门口有巨人要把你抓走吗？”

"Oh, no," she answered, "it isn't a giant, but a nasty frog." “噢，不是，” 她回答说， “不是巨人，是一只肮脏的青蛙。”

"What does the frog want with you?" "Oh, dear father, yesterday, when I was in the forest playing by the well my golden ball fell into the water. And because I cried so, the frog fetched it for me, and because he asked me, I promised he should be my companion, but I never thought he could come so far out of his water. Now he is outside, and wants to come in here." “青蛙找你干什么。” “ 啊，亲爱的父亲。昨天我在林中井边玩时，我的金球掉进水里，我大哭起来，那只青蛙就把球给我取回来了。他要求做我的同伴，我答应了。可我根本没想到他会从水里出来，走这么远路来了。现在他就在外边，要进来。”

Then the King said, "You must not break your promise, so go and let him in." 国王说：“你不能不守信用，去让他进来吧。”

She went and opened the door, and the frog hopped in, followed her to her chair, and called out, "Lift me up to you." 她去开了门，青蛙跳了进来，跟着公主来到椅子旁边，叫道：“让我上来，坐你旁边。”

She shuddered, but the King ordered her to do as she was asked. 她浑身发抖。国王吩咐她照青蛙的请求做。

At last he said, "I have eaten till I am satisfied. Now I am tired; take me to your little room, have your silk bed turned down, and we will lie down and go to sleep." 后来，青蛙说：“我吃饱了。现在我很累，带我到你的小屋去吧，摊开你那用丝绸铺垫的床，让我躺下睡吧。”

The princess began to cry at the thought of the cold frog whom she daren't touch sleeping in her pretty, clean bed.公主一想到她碰都不敢碰的冰凉的青蛙，要睡到她漂亮干净的床上，就哭起来。
