He got up early in the morning, picked the apples, and started for the castle. He met the same little man the others had met, who asked him what he had in his basket. 他 一 早 起 床 后， 摘 了 苹 果 就 动 身 到 城 堡 去。 他 遇 见 两 个 哥 哥 碰 到 过 的 小 老 头 儿。老 头 儿 问 他， 篮 子 里 装 的 是 什 么，

Hans answered promptly, "Apples, to cure the princess." And the little man said fervently, "So be it." 汉 斯 马 上 回 答 道 ： “ 是 苹 果 ， 给 公 主 治 病 的。”小 老 头 儿 热 情 地 说： “是 苹 果。”

when the King opened the basket there indeed was a quantity of rosy, tempting apples. 国 王 打 开 篮 子， 里 面 的 确 是 许 多 看 上 去 很 诱 人 的 玫 瑰 色 苹 果。

The King was overjoyed, and took some at once to the Princess. After she had eaten two or three the servants came and told the King she was cured. 国 王 非 常 高 兴， 马 上 拿 了 几 个 给 公 主。 她 吃 了 两 三 个， 佣 人 来 报 告 国 王， 公 主 的 病 好 了。

Almost immediately afterwards his daughter came herself. She told him directly she had eaten a bit of one apple she had jumped out of bed perfectly well again. 国 王 的 女 儿 随 后 自 己 来 了， 她 对 国 王 说： 她 刚 吃 了 一 口 苹 果 就 跳 下 床 来， 完 全 好 了。

The King was delighted, but after all was loath to give Hans his daughter's hand at once.国 王 很 愉 快， 但 毕 竟 不 愿 意 立 刻 同 意 女 儿 和 汉 斯 的 婚 事。

"You must first make me a boat," he said, "which will sail as well on dry land as on water." 他 说： “你 得 先 给 我 造 一 条 在 陆 上、 水 上 都 能 行 驶 的 船。”

Hans said he would certainly make the boat, and went home and related everything.汉 斯 说， 他 一 定 要 造 好 这 条 船。 他 回 家 把 这 些 情 况 说 了。

The old peasant at once sent Ulrich into the woods to make the required boat. 老 农 夫 马 上 派 乌 里 奇 到 森 林 里 去 造 国 王 要 的 船。

Ulrich set to work confidently, whistling and singing. About midday, when the sun was at its hottest, he saw approaching the little old man he had met on the road when he was carrying his apples to the King. 乌 里 奇 信 心 十 足， 吹 着 口 哨， 唱 着 歌， 动 手 干 起 来。 中 午 前 后， 太 阳 最 热， 他 看 见 给 国 王 送 苹 果 时 路 上 碰 见 过 的 小 老 头 儿。
