童话故事第 27 课: Throstle-beard King 画 眉 胡 子 国 王-2

The old King, when he saw that his daughter did nothing but make game of people, and swore she should marry the first beggar who came to his gates.老 国 王 发 现 他 的 女 儿 一 味 捉 弄 人 ， 看 不 起 所 有 的 求 婚 者 ， 十 分 恼 火， 发 誓 要 把 她 嫁 给 第 一 个 到 大 门 口 来 要 饭 的 乞 丐。

A few days later a wandering musician began to sing for alms under the window. 几 天 之 后， 一 个 江 湖 乐 师 在 窗 下 唱 着 歌 ， 求 施 舍。

The King heard him and ordered the man to be brought in. 国 王 听 到 他 的 歌 声 ， 命 人 把 他 带 进 来，

The musician came in his dirty, ragged clothes, sang before the King and his daughter, and then asked for some small reward.乐 师 穿 着 又 脏 又 破 的 衣 服 进 来， 在 国 王 和 他 的 女 儿 面 前 唱 歌， 然 后 请 求 赏 点 小 钱。

The King said,"Your song has pleased me so much that I will give you my daughter's hand in marriage."国 王 说：“你 唱 的 歌 使 我 很 高 兴， 我 要 把 我 的 女 儿 嫁 给 你。”

After the marriage the king said, "Now you are a beggar's wife, it is no longer seemly for you to stay in the castle.You and your husband must go at once." 结 婚 以 后，国 王 说： “你 现 在 是 乞 丐 的 妻 子 ， 不 能 再 住 在 城 堡 里， 你 和 你 的 丈 夫 马 上 就 走 吧。”

The beggar led her out by the hand, and she was obliged to accompany him on foot.乞 丐 拉 着 她 的 手 领 她 出 去 ， 她 只 好 陪 着 乞 丐 步 行 。

They came to a great wood, and the Princess asked, "To whom belongs this wood, I wonder?" 他 们 来 到 一 座 大 森 林， 公 主 问 道：“不 知 这 座 森 林 是 谁 的？”

The musician replied:"It belongs to the good King Throstle-beard." 乐 师 回 答 说： “这 是 善 良 的 画 眉 胡 子 国 王 的。”
