童话故事第 31 课: Blue Lamp 蓝 灯-1There was once a soldier who had served his King faithfully for many years. 从 前 有 个 士 兵 ， 为 国 王 忠 实 服 务 多 年 。
But when peace was proclaimed and the war was over, the King said to the soldier, who had been wounded several times, "Now you can go home; I require your services no longer. I cannot give you further pay, for I only pay those who earn money." 战 争 结 束 ， 宣 告 和 平 后 ， 国 王 对 这 位 多 次 负 伤 的 士 兵 说：“现 在 你 可 以 回 家 去，我 不 需 要 你 为 我 效 力 了 。 我 不 能 再 给 你 什 么 报 酬 ， 因 为 我 只 付 给 那 些 能 为 我 挣 钱 的 人 报 酬。”
The poor soldier did not know how he should live. He tramped homewards, and on his way found himself in a great forest.

When darkness fell, he saw a light which came from a cottage in which an old witch lived. 天 黑 了，他 看 见 一 个 老 巫 婆 住 的 小 屋 里 发 出 来 的 灯 光。
"Give me a bed and something to eat and drink," he said to her, "otherwise I shall perish." 他 对 巫 婆 说： “给 我 个 睡 觉 的 地 方，再 给 我 点 东 西 吃 喝。 不 然，我 就 要 死 了。”
"Ho, ho," she answered, "who would care to feed a deserter for nothing? However, I will have compassion on you and take you in, if you will do as I desire." “嘿， 嘿，” 她 回 答 说 ， “ 谁 愿 意 白 给 逃 兵 东 西 吃， 不 过，我 倒 是 同 情 你， 要 是 你 照 我 的 要 求 去 干 ， 我 愿 意 收 留 你。”
"What do you desire me to do?" asked the soldier.“你 要 我 干 什 么 呢？” 士 兵 问 。
"To dig up my garden tomorrow." "Tomorrow I have only a very light task for you. Behind my house is an old dried-up well into which I have dropped my light, a blue one, which is never extinguished. You shall fetch it for me."“ 明 天 我 只 有 一 个 很 轻 的 活 儿 让 你 干 。 我 屋 后 有 一 口 古 老 的 枯 井 ， 我 把 一 盏 灯 掉 在 这 口 井 里 了 ， 那 是 一 盏 永 不 熄 灭 的 蓝 灯， 你 替 我 把 它 取 出 来。”
The next day the old crone led him to the well, and lowered him in a basket.第 二 天 老 太 婆 领 他 到 井 边 ， 用 篮 子 把 他 放 了 下 去，
He found the blue light, and made a sign to her to draw him up again. 他 找 到 了 蓝 灯， 打 了 手 势 让 老 太 婆 把 自 己 拉 上 来。
