童话故事第 46 课: Hansel and Gretel汉 塞 尔 和 格 雷 特 尔-1Near a large wood once lived a poor woodcutter with his wife and two children.

The little boy was called Hansel and the little girl Gretel. 小 男 孩 名 叫 汉 塞 尔 ， 小 女 孩 名 叫 格 雷 特 尔 。
They rarely had nice things to eat, and when there was a famine in the land they could not get so much as their daily bread. 他 们 没 什 么 好 东 西 吃 ， 碰 上 荒 年 ， 连 饭 都 吃 不 上 。
As he lay in bed at night the father was greatly troubled, he sighed and groaned and said to his wife: "What is to become of us?" How are we to feed our little ones when we haven't anything ourselves?"父 亲 夜 里 躺 在 床 上 ， 心 里 十 分 烦 恼 ， 他 唉 声 叹 气 ， 哼 哼 唧 唧 ， 对 妻 子 说 ： “ 我 们 该 怎 么 办 呢 ？ 我 们 什 么 都 没 有 了， 怎 么 养 活 我 们 的 两 个 孩 子 呢？”
"I tell you what, husband," answered the woman, "tomorrow morning early we will lead the children far into the wood, light them a fire, give each a bit of bread, and then go to our work and leave them alone. “我 告 诉 你 该 怎 么 办 吧，丈 夫，” 妻 子 回 答 说，“明 天 一 清 早， 我 们 把 孩 子 们 带 到 森 林 深 处，给 他 们 生 上 火，给 每 人 一 小 块 面 包 ， 然 后 我 们 就 去 干 活 ， 把 他 们 留 在 那 儿 。
They will never find their way home, and we shall be rid of them." 他 们 决 不 会 找 到 回 家 的 路 ， 我 们 就 可 以 把 他 们 扔 掉 了。”
The two children were so hungry that they had not been able to go to sleep, and they had overheard what their step-mother proposed to do with them. 两 个 孩 子 饿 得 睡 不 着， 他 们 听 到 继 母 处 置 他 们 的 打 算。
Gretel wept bitter tears and said to Hansel. "It is all up with us." 格 雷 特 尔 很 难 过， 流 着 眼 泪 对 汉 塞 尔 说： “我 们 完 了。”
