First, I must have proof that it was really you, great hulking fellow, who sat in that small bottle. 首 先 ， 我 必 须 得 得 到 证 明 ， 坐 在 那 个 小 瓶 子 里 的 真 是 你 这 么 大 的 家 伙 。

If you can get in again I shall be convinced, and you can then do what you like with me." 如 果 你 能 再 进 去 ， 我 就 服 了 。 那 你 要 怎 么 样 对 待 我 ， 就 怎 么 样 吧 ！

The spirit answered loftily, "A very simple trick," and he shrank and shrank just he was thin and small enough to creep through the opening of the bottle. 妖 怪 高 傲 地 回 答 ： “ 那 是 很 简 单 的 把 戏。” 他 缩 呀 缩 呀 ， 缩 得 又 细 又 小，钻 进 瓶 子。

Scarcely was he inside before the student deftly screwed the cork in and flung the bottle into its old place under the roots of the oak. 他 一 进 去， 学 生 立 刻 灵 巧 地 拧 上 塞 子 ， 把 瓶 子 扔 回 橡 树 根 下 的 老 地 方 去。

The spirit was checkmated. 妖 怪 败 了。

The student now intended to join his father again. 这 时 学 生 打 算 回 到 父 亲 那 儿。

The spirit, however, squealed piteously. "Oh, let me out! let me out!" The student said, No, he would do nothing of the sort. 然 而， 妖 怪 尖 声 哀 叫 道： “噢，让 我 出 去 ！ 让 我 出 去 ！ ” 学 生 说 ：“ 不， 我 不 会 再 做 这 种 事 情 了 。”

But the spirit made him listen to argument. He promised not to break his neck, but to give him wealth that would last his life long. 妖 怪 要 他 听 听 自 己 的 意 见 。 他 答 应 不 掐 断 他 的 脖 子， 而 且 给 他 能 用 一 辈 子 的 财 富 。
