The student then thought, "I'll risk it. Perhaps he will keep his word." 学 生 想：“我 冒 一 次 险 吧，也 许 他 会 守 信 用。”

So he took the cork out, and the spirit grew taller and taller, as before. 于 是 他 打 开 瓶 塞，象 上 次 一 样，妖 怪 又 越 长 越 高 了。

"Now you shall have your reward." said the giant; and he handed the student a case of plaster, saying, “现 在 你 可 以 得 到 报 酬 了 ，” 妖 怪 递 给 学 生 一 盒 膏 药 说 ，

"If you touch a wound with one end, it will heal; and if you strike steel or iron with the other end , it will change into silver." “ 你 用 一 头 去 碰 碰 伤 口 ， 伤 口 就 好 了； 你 用 另 一 头 去 碰 钢 铁 ， 钢 铁 就 变 成 银 子。”

The spirit thanked him for rescuing him, and the student thanked the spirit for his present, and they went their several ways. 妖 怪 感 谢 学 生 救 了 他， 学 生 感 谢 妖 怪 送 给 他 礼 物 。 他 们 俩 就 各 走 各 的 路。

When the student came back his father grumbled and asked what he meant by neglecting his work so long."I told you you would never make anything of it," he said. 当 这 学 生 回 去 的 时 候， 他 父 亲 嘟 嘟 嚷 嚷 地 抱 怨 着， 问 他 干 嘛 这 样 长 的 时 间 不 来 干 活 。他 说 ： “我 告 诉 过 你 ， 你 这 样 是 什 么 也 干 不 成 的 。”

The son told how things had happened. 于 是 儿 子 把 事 情 的 经 过 跟 老 人 说 了。

With the money brought by the plaster he went back to college; and time, because his plaster could heal all wounds, he became the most famous physician in the world. 他 用 膏 药 生 成 的 钱 回 大 学 去 读 书。 因 为 他 的 膏 药 能 治 一 切 创 伤， 他 终 于 成 了 世 界 上 最 有 名 的 医 生。
