童话故事第 8 课: Fisherman And His Wife 渔 夫 和 他 的 妻 子-1

There was once a fisherman who lived with his wife in a dirty little hovel close by the sea. 从 前 有 一 个 渔 夫 ， 他 和 妻 子 一 起 住 在 海 边 的 一 间 又 小 又 脏 的 破 屋 子 里 。

One day he sat by his line, looking down into the clear water; and he looked and looked. 有 一 天 ， 他 坐 在 钓 鱼 线 旁 边，看 着 清 澈 的 水。他 看 着， 看 着 。

Then the line ran out to the bottom of the sea, deep down; and when he hauled it up there was a great carp at the end. 钓 鱼 线 向 海 底 沉 去 ， 越 沉 越 深 。 他 把 线 拉 上 来 时 ， 钓 着 了 一 条 大 鲤 鱼 。

And the carp said to him, "Listen, fisherman, I pray you don't kill me. I'm not a carp; I'm an enchanted Prince. 鲤 鱼 对 渔 夫 说 ： “听 着，渔 夫。我 求 你 别 杀 我， 我 不 是 鲤 鱼， 是 一 个 被 人 施 了 魔 法 的 王 子，

Of what use would it be to you kill me? You would not find my flesh good; put me back in the water and let me swim away." The man consented. 把 我 杀 了 对 你 有 什 么 好 处 呢 ？ 你 会 发 现 我 的 肉 并 不 好。 把 我 放 回 水 中 ， 让 我 游 走 吧。” 渔 夫 同 意 了。

He went back into his hovel to his wife. "Goodman,have you caught anything today ? " 渔 夫 回 到 破 屋 去 ， 来 到 妻 子 身 边。 “丈 夫，” 妻 子 说， “你 今 天 什 么 也 没 钓 着 吧？”

" No ," replied he , " that is, I caught a carp, but he said he was an enchanted Prince, so I let him swim away . "“没 有，” 渔 夫 回 答 说， “不 过， 我 钓 着 一 条 鲤 鱼，但 他 说 他 是 一 个 被 施 了 魔 法 的 王 子 ， 我 就 让 他 游 走 了。”

" Didn't you wish for anything? " asked his wife. "No," answered the husband, "what should I wish for?" “你 没 要 点 什 么 东 西 吗？” 妻 子 问。 “没 有，” 渔 夫 回 答 说， “我 要 什 么 呀？”

"Oh," said the wife, "it's very uncomfortable living in a dirty hovel like ours; you ought to have wished for a pretty little cottage. “噢，” 妻 子 说，“住 在 我 们 这 样 肮 脏 的 破 屋 子 里，太 不 舒 服 了， 你 该 要 一 所 漂 亮 的 小 村 舍 。
