麦哲伦英语 第 87 课：A Sunset on the Screen 镜头里的日落

The director of a film planned to film a beautiful sunset over the ocean. He sent his camera crew out one evening to shot the sunset for him. 一个电影导演计划拍摄美丽的海上落日。有天傍晚，他派摄像组出去为他拍日落。

The next morning he said to the men, "Have you got that sunset?" 次日早晨，他问他们：“你们拍到日落没？”

"No, sir," the men answered. “没有，先生，”摄像组的人说。

"Why not?" he asked. “为什么没拍到？”导演问。

"Well, sir," one of the men answered, "we're on the east coast here, and the sun sets in the west. We can get you a sunrise over the sea, if necessary, but not a sunset." “是这样的，先生，”其中一个人说，“我们这里是东海岸，而太阳在西边落下。需要的话，我们能为您拍到海上日出，但日落不行。”

But then a young secretary had an idea. "Why don't you photograph a sunrise," she suggested, "and then put it through the projector backwards? Then it'll look like a sunset." 这时一个年轻秘书想出个办法。“你们为什么不拍个日出，”她建议，“然后用放映机回放？这样看起来就是日落了。”

"That's a very good idea!" the director said. Then he turned to the camera crew and said, "Tomorrow morning I want you to get me a beautiful sunrise over the sea. “好主意！”导演说。然后他转向摄像组说：“明天早晨我要你们给我拿来美丽的海上日出。”

The camera crew went out early the next morning and filmed a bright sunrise over the beach in the middle of a beautiful bay. 摄像组第二天一大早就出去了，在一个漂亮的海湾中间拍摄到了光芒四射的海滨日出。

Then at nine o'clock they took it to the director. "Here it is, sir," they said, and showed it to him. He liked it very much. 九点时他们拿给导演。“拍好了，先生，”他们把片子递给导演，导演非常高兴。

They all went into the studio. "All right, now run the film backwards through the projector." Said the director. 导演和摄像组的人进了工作室。“好，现在回放片子看看。”导演说。

The "sunset" began, but after a quarter of a minute, the director suddenly shouted to the camera crew to stop. “日落”开始了，刚过了十五秒，导演突然冲摄像组大声叫停。

The birds in the film were flying backwards, and the waves on the sea were going away from the beach. 影片里的鸟儿在倒着飞，而海浪在从海滩冲向大海。
